Rare’s upcoming new game Sea of Thieves was given its first gameplay demo at the Microsoft E3 press briefing yesterday, with a trailer that showed fans themselves playing the game.

The gameplay demo showed off a lot of different aspects of the game. Players will be able to explore the different islands found in the game world and engage in naval battles with other players. All of this is possible with multiplayer co-op too.

There seems to be some kind of command structure built into the game, as evidenced by the trailer, where different ships have specific captains. In these instances other players act as crew members, manning different parts of the ship.

Sea of Thieves wasn’t given a release date, but it’ll be heading to Xbox One and Windows 10 via Xbox Play Anywhere when it launches.
