CD Projekt Red have finally announced a standalone Gwent game is coming to PC and consoles. Damien Monnier stepped out on the Microsoft E3 stage to announce the game, saying that the Witcher 3 development team received “thousands of e-mails” asking for a standalone Gwent.
Gwent will include a full-blown multiplayer experience, featuring cross-play between PC and consoles thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere. There will also be a single-player campaign, which Monnier described as “monumental”. Gwent’s core mechanics will survive the transition from side game to full game intact, though the visuals have been almost completely redesigned.
A beta for Gwent is coming soon to PC and Xbox One, and the full game is scheduled to launch this September on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
