Allison Road has been cancelled. The news comes directly from the games official Twitter account, who have released a short statement announcing the cancellation. While no reason has yet been given for this sudden revelation, the developers have said that a statement will be coming in the next few days.
Here’s the tweet:
Allison Road was billed as a spiritual successor to P.T. – the playable teaser for Silent Hills directed by Hideo Kojima and produced by Guillermo del Toro, which was itself cancelled by Konami last year.
Allison Road was a first-person horror game set over the course of five days in a haunted house. A 13-minute gameplay prototype of Allison Road was released last July, ahead of a Kickstarter campaign aimed to raise cash for development. The crowdfunding was cancelled after it was announced that the game had been picked up by indie publisher Team 17.
Allison Road was listed as one of our most anticipated games of 2016, and news of its sudden cancellation is a sad twist in its tale. Everyone here at Words About Games wishes the development team well.
