ID@Xbox director Chris Charla recently announced that Xbox would enable cross-network multiplayer on its Xbox Live network, which would theoretically mean that players could connect to each other even if they were playing on other platforms – including Playstation 4. Now Sony have responded.
In an official statement on the matter, Sony said:
“PlayStation has been supporting cross-platform play between PC on several software titles starting with Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and PC back in 2002. We would be happy to have the conversation with any publishers or developers who are interested in cross platform play.”
While they don’t specifically mention Microsoft or Xbox by name, it’s pretty clear what prompted this response. And it seems they’re willing to sit down and talk with Microsoft over the possibility of Xbox and Playstation gamers being able to play games together.
