Good news everybody! The Creative Assembly console team, responsible for last years excellent survival horror Alien Isolation, is hiring. For starters if you’re interested in working in game development then you should head over to the Creative Assembly website, where the jobs are posted. For the rest of us who are merely fans, it means that there’s a very good chance that the dev team is staffing up for the Alien Isolation sequel we all crave.
Alien Isolation was a critical and commercial success last year, shifting over one million copies to date, and with a Metacritic average of around 80 across PC, PS4 and Xbox One. When your studios only other successful property is handled by another part of the team (Total War), and once you discount the notion that making another Viking game would be a terrible idea, all signs point to Alien Isolation 2.
Interestingly, one of the advertised jobs is for an “online/multiplayer programmer” – which means that some form of multiplayer could be on the cards if Creative Assembly is indeed hiring for Alien Isolation 2. Before the pitchforks come out, a multiplayer component to a potential Alien Isolation sequel could be interesting if handled correctly.
While team deathmatch is probably out of the question, maybe some kind of mode similar to Evolve (but done much better) might be kind of awesome? Or maybe a co-operative campaign? The possibilities are endless, and Creative Assembly did such a great job with Alien Isolation, enough to earn my trust in the direction they could possibly take Alien Isolation 2.
If this is for Alien Isolation 2. I hope so, Viking was a pretty bad game.
